Long Exposure/Night Photography presentation by Bill O’Neil & Virginia Kolstad

    May 8, 2019  7:30pm

    Sparta Ambulance Building

Long exposure produces  memorable photographic images.  The program is for photographers who want to take image creation to the next level.

Virginia and Bill will be speaking about improving your photography through the use of longer exposures.  Virginia will focus on using long exposures during the day and early evening.  She will show you how to create the silky waters of a waterfall, calm the ocean’s rough surface and how to use long exposures to get ethereal effects of clouds in the skies and to capture a fireworks display.  Bill will focus on the wonders of night photography.  He will explain how to shoot the Milky Way, Star Trails, the Moon and other night time objects. He will share photos of shots taken, believe it or not, in New Jersey and elsewhere.  Both Virginia and Bill will discuss what equipment you need and will touch on how to process these photos.  Bill has recently been shooting deep space nebulas and will finish by sharing some of these photos.

Bill O’Neil has been a serious photographer for about five years.  In the late 90’s he started out taking pictures of aircraft using film.  Now his focus is astrophotography, landscapes and aviation. More recently he has started shooting deep space objects with a telescope.

Virginia Kolstad has been a serious photographer for about 10 years and has won many awards in local and state competitions.  She is primarily a landscape and fine art photographer and has traveled throughout the U.S. taking pictures of this beautiful country.
