Sparta Camera Club
Sparta Ambulance Building,14 Sparta Ave. Sparta NJ

Through examples of their work, Jim Figielski and Ami Shecter of Paulinskill River Photography discuss how to find a subject and bring out its best qualities and will describe how to make your nature photography stand-out. Advice is offered on establishing a personal style, self-critique, and tips for photographing wildlife. They will cover the technical aspects of photography such as camera settings, equipment, composition and post-processing techniques.  Questions are welcome.

Living on the Paulinskill, in Blairstown, NJ, Jim Figielski and Ami Shecter are constantly amazed by what they see practically right outside their door. Working as a team, often shooting side by side and with Ami doing the digital work, they manage Paulinskill River Photography, a popular local (NWNJ) Facebook page. Their work is sold in restaurants, galleries, craft fairs and festivals.

Jim and Ami share an aesthetic and a romantic vision of nature, with a strong desire to beautify it. The Paulinskill River Photography’s vision is in strong contrast to the current trend in nature photography which emphasizes the plight of the earth and animals.  They believe that when nature is glorified, it inspires people to love their world and care about it. Jim’s  work  demonstrates unique bond with wildlife there is an undeniably special quality of intimacy with his subjects.  Ami’s post processing technique brings out the best of her subject matter, just tweaking it enough so that its natural essence stays intact but its beauty shines through. With an affinity for fine art, they both prefer a clean, crisp, modern look, to their print work, offering it on canvas (their preferred media ), as well as, matted prints, and calendars.

The Sparta Camera Club meets on the second and forth Wednesday of each month from  September through the first week of June. View our webpage at http://www.spartacameraclub.org.  or contact us info@spartacameraclub.org.
